At the invitation of Professor Tianjian Lu, Professor Frédéric DIAS, Visiting Professor of University of Dublin, Ireland and Secretary General of International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM),  visited our laboratory and give a lecture.

      Prof. DIAS introduced his research direction and research work to the laboratory teachers and students, showing the observational evidence of extreme waves and describing the mechanism of extreme wave generation and prediction. During the lecture, the laboratory teachers and students were seriously listening, thinking, and  communicating with Prof.DIAS , forming a good academic atmosphere.

      Frédéric DIAS is Professor of Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan; Visiting Professor of University of Dublin, Ireland; Secretary General of International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM); Co-editor of European Journal of Mechanics B / Fluids (Elsevier) . He majors in fluid mechanics, specializing in wave dynamics, tsunamis, wave energy, wave and ocean structure impact dynamics, and turbine mechanics. Have been published more than 150 papers in Nature Physics ,Phys. Rev. Lett.,Journal of Fluid Mech., Annu. Review Fluid Mech, Coast. Eng., International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids and other famous journals.
